People who visit Lambert's Cafe for the first time are invariably amazed at the generous portions served on each order.  These generous servings along with our "THROWED ROLLS" have inspired many questions.  We cannot describe our activity in great detail, but we've endeavored to point out some of the highlights of our "Throwed Rolls" cafe.  We hope you find our web site interesting.

Marilyn Beaird wouldn't know what to do if she didn't go to Lambert's Cafe every day. After all, she's been employed at the home of "throwed rolls" since 1974.

"They're good to work for," she says of the Lambert family, which has owned the business since 1942 when Earl and Agnes Lambert, with 14 cents between them, borrowed $1,500 to open a cafe in Sikeston, in southeastern Missouri.

Their son, Norman, took over the business in the 1970s and ran it until his death in 1996. Norman expanded the business to southwest Missouri, opening its Ozark location in 1994, and another location, in Foley, Ala., opened just after Norman's death in 1996.

Today, Norman's sons and widow are in charge.

Every generation of the family has been good as gold to the employees, Beaird said.

"It's more like a family," she says of her co-workers and bosses.

Lambert's Cafe listed as one of 10 great places to take an exit to good eatin' in USA Today article.

He makes no claim to being a dining critic, but Mark Watson has done his share of eating at restaurants - especially those just off the highway. He drives about 25,000 miles each year to put together The Next Exit (The Next Exit, $14.95), his guide to what's at every interstate exit across the USA. "Clean windows and a busy parking lot" is what Watson says he looks for when first picking a place to eat. Here, with Ron Schoolmeester for USA TODAY, he chooses some of his favorites...read full article.

Best Meal of My Vacation

Hello, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I enjoyed my visit today! We, my boyfriend and I were on our way home to Meridian, M.S. This was my first trip/vacation to the beach. I was so excited to get  there and try all the different types of seafood and fish. So I did and I ate one meal after the other for three days. All were very good. I love seafood so I didn't even think of eating anything else while I was  there.

Now my boyfriend and my mother had been telling all about this place you go eat and they throw your rolls to you. WHAT!?! They throw your food? I asked, I didn't know what to expect. So finally I caved in. I said ok we will go but on the way home. I didn't even know what kind of food to expect I guess I just figured "beach" food. When we pulled and I saw vegetables real big outside, a part of me sank. Only because I eat this kind of food all day every day at home. Well it wasn't long into my visit when I realized Lamberts was very special. And they made me feel special. I can honestly say of all the meals I enjoyed on my vacation, Lamberts tops my list!!

The atmosphere was great, the food was great, our service was great! Amazing! I was stunned when I was packing up my pork chops to go and the staff was offering us more okra and potatoes. I looked at my boyfriend and said they want us to take this "free" food home?! At that one second I realized your message. You believed in your name and you believed in your food. This is something I took home with me. Something I'm still thinking about. And we were there at 10.30! Ya'll did a great job!

Lamberts, the most memorable meal my whole trip!

Thanks a lot!!
Apryl A.

p.s. I've already called everyone I know.

p.s.s The tea pitcher trick.....hilarious!!!!!

Famous Restaurant Collage

I am creating a collage in art class of famous restaurants around the world. Your restaurant was recommended as a must to be included in my collage. Would you be willing to send me coasters, matchboxes, or other promotional materials. We would love to have your restaurant represented in this collage. My project is due May 8 so if you could send your items as soon as possible that would be wonderful.

Thank you very much.

Outstanding Customer Service

I would like to get a message to Ben Lambert owner, concerning my visit to Lamberts in Springfield Mo. My mother accompanied me on a trip there and Jeff Johnson the manager, was extraordinary. She has a medical condition and he went out of his way, in lieu of the vast number of other customers being served, to make sure that her food was prepared in a special way. She has a serious medical condition which prohibits her from eating any pre seasoned food or any seasoning. This makes it difficult for her to enjoy eating at restaurants.

She accompanied us on our trip to Mo. to see her only granddaughter play basketball, she was thrilled to be on the trip. Most restaurant workers tell us that the food in not pre-seasoned, or tell us that there is no seasoning in the food, and when m mother becomes extremely ill, we figure out their dishonesty.

I asked Mr. Johnson on the front end about the preparation of food, he was very honest and informed me that he thought he could help. He did. My mother not only enjoyed the meal, but she was most impressed that the young man as she put it cared enough to help. Her statement to me was,

"There are not that many people who take the time to care anymore, I am usually just one person and my concerns don't matter, I am glad God still resides in the heart of some, because in today's world people only seem to lookout for themselves."

I hope this message finds its way to Ben Lambert, Jeff Johnson exemplified all the qualities in our one visit of a top leader, and his crew were pretty darn good as well.
